Things to see in Iceland, part 2

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a necessity trip for visiting Iceland; you can do this on the way to the airport on your return journey home. At a responsible 5,500krona (about £20 - £25) you get airport transfers and full entry to the lagoon. The drive will expose you to the green pillow moss-topped lava fields; the cold outdoor temperatures will publicise your closeness to the lagoon as steam billows on the horizon.

The blue milky water – unlike any clear swimming pool, bouncing ocean or algae green lake – will set you aback immediately. However it’s the freezing winds after plucking up the coverage to set foot on the deck before entering the lagoon that is the most shocking experience of Iceland.

The lagoon is fed from wells of geothermal seawater that comes from as deep as 2000 metres keeping the pool a balmy 36-39C degrees. Enjoy the steam baths, saunas, restaurants or bar, you can even subscribe to an in-water spa.
