This is a must do - get a bike to get around the city you not only save time but also money. It only costs €1 to set-up an account and you need a €150 deposit. You will only get charged after 30 mins and it is about €1 for each half an hour. BUT if you put it back before the 30 mins is up it is free to use.

So a quick step-by-step guide to using a Velib:

1 - you need a bank card

2 - place it in and you will be required to put in your pin

3 - create a pin specifically for the bike usage

4 - receive a ticket - this will have a number on dedicated to your use of the bike

5 - type in the ticket number, the bike pin you selected, then choose a bike

It is really a bit of a long process to begin with but worth doing. You are best choosing a ticket to last 24 hours and update it every day. You can use the bikes at any point just watch out for those without tyres, or air in tyres and no pedals.

Oh and you must park your bike at a Velibe station with a free space.
