Philbeach can disappear

Oh boy - the horror I experienced when I opened The London Paper this evening only to discover that the main article under London Love was a gay hotel set to close.

Apparently, it obviously by-passed me, it has been a beacon of the gay community since it opened 27 years ago. Philbeach Hotel, (the who? yes, quite), perhaps some reference to a man called Phil who owned it? Maybe a pun on Feel? Anyway it's shutting down.

'The trendier crowd has moved to Vauxhall and Soho' - still don't know if I agree with that sentence.

Anywho, it shuts end of this month. The manager is 'concerned that young gay men who had previously used the venue will go to other less savoury places for a fling'.

Oh get over yourself honey;

Number one - the only young gays you're worried about are the immigrant rent boys using the hotel as a brothel

Number two - did you manage to miss the day that the government signed the Equality in Goods and Services Act?

Some stories are ready for the fish and chips before they've been read, and some hotels have been ready for the grave yard for sometime!
