Copacabana's sea front is largely dominated by hotels, however the main street and further north is residential. It is very busy with local Carioca's and residents, but there is not much to enjoy in the area. more

Copacabana is more acceptable than much of the rest of Rio de Janeiro, with many European and American travellers it's culture almost bases itself on tourism. For gay and lesbian people Ipanema is the choice location for socialising. more
