Fiji
Most people (if they think of Fiji at all!) believe that there's one tiny island called Fiji somewhere in the middle of the South Pacific. In fact, there are more than 300 islands! Many are uninhabited....... The total population is about 850,000 with a little over 50% indigenous Fijians; about 40% Indo-Fijian and the remaining citizens of various ethnic backgrounds. The two largest islands (Viti Levu and Vanua Levu) are as big as the largest islands in the Hawaiian chain. Viti Levu has two international airports -- Nadi and Suva. Nadi is the primary airport with most international flights arriving there. Suva has flights from Australia and New Zealand only. Suva is the capitol, with a population of about 300,000. All of the big hotels are located along the coastline between Nadi and Suva or in the Nadi area. There are lots of touristy island resorts off the coast of Nadi. Some offer adult-only venues. Vanua Levu is the second largest island and most "tropical" destination. The resorts there (most are near Savusavu) are small. Some are adult-only and others cater to families.
