Zagreb is capital of Croatia and has the most developed gay scene in Croatia.
Year after year, Zagreb is becoming more and more gay-friendly, as the gay population is also gaining numbers. The first Croatian Gay and Gay Friendly Guide (www.zagrebgayguide.com), represents one of the first steps aimed to achieve wider awareness and expansion of this branch of tourism.
In Croatia, the Same-Sex Union Act, the Anti-Discrimination Act and a number of other legal acts forbid discrimination of individuals based on their sexual orientation in Croatia. Despite this, a certain level of intolerance still exists in the Croatian society, therefore, display of affection (hugging, kissing) is not recommended outside premises declared gay&lesbian, men only and lesbian in the mentioned guide.
Although Zagreb may not be as tolerant of gay lifestyle as Berlin or Madrid, one can still experience its relaxed atmosphere, meet warm and welcoming people, and feel the soul of the city strolling the streets of the old town.

JARUN LAKE
The official Nudist beach at the Jarun lake is also visited my many gays in summer. Near the beach is a cruising area, active day and night, throughout the year.
You can visit the island opposite the nudist beach— the forest, bushes and south beaches are a known cruising area. Prime gay spots are located in the south-eastern forest. The island’s name is Otok hrvatske mladeži (The Island of Croatian Youth). You can reach the island by crossing the bridge at its eastern end. The “gay forest” is on your left as soon as you cross the bridge. Follow the path to the beach on the west side of the island.
