Vauxhall is one of the new epicentres of the gay scene in London. As parts of the community branch out others huddle together - more to become a united night life scene than anything else.
Vauxhall is one of the suburbs of South West London just along from Westminster and Waterloo, so still very central. a lot of gays and lesbians live in SW London so this is a perfect compromise to a night out.
The area has undergone a marjor facelift int he past 10 years and was fitted out with a number of clubs in the past 5 years. It is now home to the biggest baddest gay clubs in London.
It's open round the clock - there are a lot of gay men especially - who can go clubbing on Thursday at 9pm and not return home until Monday 2pm. It is mainly a gay men area, so beaware of this.
The scene is more mature, over 25 year olds. With about six clubs and three bar, plus the rest in the vicinity.
Vauxhall is a must go. Otherwise known as Vauxhall Village.
Culture
Vauxhall is very much an all-night clubbing, hard house, dance, trance, beat scene. It is best not going out until about 11pm, most clubs stay open until 12pm next day. People are wandering around at all hours and with the local Park nearby, otherwise known as TellieTubby Hill, it is ideal in the summer for after-clubbing sun and socialising.
Equality
Since there are a lot of gay clubs, well in fact it dominates the area - well-known as Vauxhall Viallage. There are plans to host its own Pride event, flags adorn the rail way bridge and there is even a sauna on the gay stretch.
While it is worth keeping your wits about you, it is a very safe area...
