Pride March Victoria recognizes and celebrates the people and events that inspire the courage, solidarity, pride and diversity. It reflects the ideas of the community of Victoria's gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex and transgender people.

The aim of Victoria Pride Society is   to empower the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, two-spirited, intersex, friends and allies.  Victoria Pride fosters learning through social celebration and networking. Its purpose is to create a better public understanding of our community’s history, courage, diversity and future. 

 Interestingly the Society was born from a casual picnic in Beacon Hill Park around 15 years ago. Since that time, the society has been gradually gaining popularity. Since its inception, the Victoria Pride Society has been supporting the inclusiveness, accessibility, and diversity of Pride Week events. The events of the Society are held mainly during Pride Week. The Society will be organizing the”17th Annual Victoria Pride March “on 5th February, 2012 and preparations are currently underway for its successful organization. 

It is one of those few national Pride Societies which actually encourages all kinds of people to participate and join the Pride parade route. As a result of the continuous efforts of the Victoria Pride Society, thousands of people having started coming annually on   the streets of Victoria. The participants come either for themselves or for their colleagues and loved ones. The Victoria Pride Society tries and desires to provide support, connection, education, and celebration for every individual in their own quest to be proud.

The basic message which the Society wants to deliver and stress upon by organizing such marches is the fact that being 'proud' transcends any one week of any given year and that being 'proud' is an achievement garnered throughout a lifetime.
