Barcelona Gay Pride   which is popularly known as “Pride Barcelona’11”is the most important LGBT pride festival in the Mediterranean area. The festival will be held for the third consecutive year. The Barcelona Gay Pride is a free not-for-profit event. The aim and objective of the event is to promote the inclusion and visibility of the people belonging to the LGBT community.

 The timing for the festival is usually late June every year. The main and the most important events of the celebrations are usually scheduled for the weekend sometime in late June. The reason being that people are free and can easily attend the festival during the weekend compared to the working days. However the entire festival duration is for approximately ten days from mid to late June every year. The event is organized with the help of sponsorship from many charitable association’s and   local business associations. Volunteers from the entire local LGBT community work tirelessly to make the event a grand success.

The Barcelona Gay Pride festival will last for a total of ten days and will be consisting of various cultural and sporting activities.  Beside this there will also be parties, dances and many other options for complete entertainment. 

Spain has traditionally been known for the respect and tolerance people in Spain have for the LGBT community and are already on the global map for pride celebrations in Madrid and Maspalomas. It is due to the respectful and tolerant character of Spanish people that Spain is globally popular for taking initiatives towards protecting LGBT rights. Festival like the Barcelona Gay Pride event is one such example of the steps being taken in Spain toward helping the LGBT community in joining the mainstream society.
