Los Angeles Black Pride (LABP) is one of the American’s largest recognized Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride celebration. It is a week long celebration which is attended by more than twenty thousand people. Over the last years the celebration has gradually been growing in participants and in scope. The 24th Annual Black Pride Festival will be held in July ’2012.

The “Los Angeles Black gay pride event” is organized by association called “At the Beach, Los Angeles (ATBLA)”. The festival timing coincides with the American Independence Day celebration. 

The LA Black, gay, lesbian and transgender community will be attending this festival in large number. Since the event is a family event, it is attended by people of all ages. Apart from the beach party there will be a lot of other exciting things during this celebration. To mention a few, there will be literary events covering various issues pertaining to the problems faced by the LGBT community. Parties and music has been planned for the evenings. 

Majority of the Gay celebrations are basically organized by people belonging to the white community’s 

However the trend now observed is that the Gay African Americans are organizing their own events to enhance their sense of identity. Such events which are organized by the black gay communities have started to become famous. The Black Pride Event is one such event. The other major black gay festivals are held in Atlanta and Washington. The black gay pride movement originated as a single event in Washington in 1990.  Such black gay pride events provide an excellent opportunity and platform for the African Americans Gay people to come together, talk and discuss about issues and in the process feel accepted.
