Gay Pride London is a very important Gay event which aims at promoting equal rights for people belonging to the LGBT community. It is very long celebration and lasts for full two weeks.. A variety of cultural events including theatre performances, live music shows and debates are held during these two weeks.  The common aim of all these events is to raise awareness regarding the hardships and discrimination faced by the people belonging to the LGBT community. The popularity of the event is evident from the fact that more than 500,000 people, both local as well as international tourists attend this event.

Pride London is already the biggest Lesbian and Gay Pride event in the UK and London will be the host for the World Pride Festival in 2012. The event will provide the global LGBT community an excellent opportunity and platform to come together and to celebrate the progress that has been made in achieving equality for the gay people.

It is noteworthy that UK has just been named by the International Lesbian and Gay Association as the number one place in Europe for LGBT equality.  This position has been reached after years of hard work by volunteers who had worked with full dedication.

 Overall, Pride London aims at getting rid of the discrimination faced by LGBT people. The “World Pride 2012” which will be held from 23rd June to 8th July will be the biggest ever Pride event till date and will almost be like one big global party. The Parade which will be starting from the Baker Street will be held over a longer route compared to the previous Pride events. A special “Family Area” will be built thereby enabling parents and children to safely enjoy the World Pride festival.
