Knoxville Pride fest is an annual celebration which is held in the state of Tennessee. This pride event is organized by East Tennessee Equality Council (ETEC). ETEC is a nonprofit organization and is run by volunteers. The aim of the organization is to provide and conduct educational, cultural, and informational programs supporting the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Transgender community throughout East Tennessee. Knoxville was founded in the year 1786. It happens to be the third-largest city in the U.S. state of Tennessee, U.S.A. It is located on the far side of Memphis and Nashville, and it is also the territorial division of Knox County. The city of Knoxville's is also popularly known as the Marble City. The reason for this was that there used to be many quarries which used to be located in the city. The quarries used to produce pink marble.
The timing for the Pride event is usually late June every year. The exact dates for the 2012 event are yet to be decided by the organizers. Knoxville Pride Fest is a loud celebration which is full of lovely music, and lot of entertainment and cultural events. The organizers work very hard to fight for equality and injustice against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Last time the festival has held on Market Square in downtown Knoxville on June 25.
The visitors will have plenty of shopping options during the event. There will be different bars and restaurants where the visitors can enjoy food and drink. Another event is Paint the Town Red. In this event people wear red and only red. There is also a “Next To Nothing” Underwear/Swimwear Fashion Show & Auction from over 20 different companies. The admission fee for this event is about $20.
