AIDS Walk NY is one of the largest fund-raising events in the world. The date for the next NY AIDS walk will be Sunday 20th of May 2012. The venue for the AIDS walk has traditionally been the Central Park, New York. The fund collected during this AID walk   will be used to assist the working of approximately fifty local AIDS service voluntary organizations. The first edition of the AIDS Walk NY started in the year 1986. The funds collected during the walk are used for HIV programs, support and services in the tri state area. The biggest ever AIDS Walk NY was held in the year 2010, More than 45,000 participants are expected to take part in the 2012 edition of the AIDS walk.

GMHC is a not-for-profit organization. It is one of the world’s first AIDS service organizations and is also one of the largest. GMHC is fighting against the fear, avoidance, and partiality which have surrounded the disease. It also works to prevent new infections, help those living with the disease, and teaches for equitable and impressive public health policies. 

The basic objective of the AIDS Walk NY is to help in making the society realize the essential fact that the HIV/AIDS pandemic is spreading at an unimaginable and alarming rate. Therefore it is very important that immediate steps be taken by both the governments and the public to control the further spread of this pandemic. On this day awareness is spread about AIDS through various public events. The AIDS Walk NY is an important way of reaching out to the public and a large global scale. The day deals with all the aspects of HIV/AIDS, including its high incidence rate, the ways to prevent its spread, the modes by which it is transmitted and the developments in its treatment.
