Toronto Gay Pride is the 32nd annual celebration for LGBT community who situated in Toronto. For 2012, the pride is commencing from 22nd of June to 1st of July in downtown Toronto. This pride week is one of the first and important arts and cultural celebration in Canada. Around 1.2 million people are coming here to enjoy the festival. It celebrates the history, gender identities, bravery, creativities, families, friends, lives and variety of Toronto's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, two Spirited and Allies (LGBTTIQQ2SA) communities.
The pride week is organized by Pride Toronto and is a not-for-profit organization. the week includes a three day street festival with over eight platforms of live entertainment like music, performances and DJs mixings, a far-reaching street fair which contains community booths, vendors, variety of food stalls, film screening, literary, a special Family Pride program, a politically directed Dyke March, a Trans March and the famous Pride Parade.
The Dyke March is a source program where women and Tran’s people in LGBTTIQQ2SA communities take over the streets of Toronto. The Dyke March is not a march or parade - it is a political demonstration or a public meeting of a large scale of audiences; a moment seized to be extravagantly festive in the strength, variety and strong emotion of LGBTTIQQ2SA women and Trans folk. The Trans March is a rally where people will carry the torch and traditions. During the rally the participants performs the Cliks, Colour me Dragg and other amazing acts etc...
Family Pride is all about families which includes family-friendly activities and events. Youth Pride is fantastic and fabulous events for the youths. The aim of Youth Pride is to increase the range or possibility, consciousness and inclusion of youth within Toronto's greater queer communities.
A theme is selected for each Pride Week that reflects the current context of the queer community and helps shape the festivities. Previous themes included "Fearless" (2006), "Unstoppable!" (2007), "Unified" (2008), and "Can't Stop. Won't Stop." (2009). Last year theme was "Dream Big" for 2012 yet to be finalized by the organizers.
