Cardiff- Iris Film Festival is a famous festival that is use to award all those movies which are specifically based on gay and lesbians. Main reason behind this award function is to provide a global reorganization to the LGBT community. All gay and lesbian short films are promoted in this event so that they can be further accepted throughout the world. Along with that gay film makers also get motivation for making such movies that are helpful in entertaining LGBT people. Regarding movies there are certain norms according to which movies are nominated. Mainly it is considered that movie should be completed at least before 2 years to the prize distribution.
Movies from all over the world can be nominated in this festival where prize distribution is made according to the judgment of judge’s panel of international filmmakers and artist. The most interesting part of this festival is that along with the award winner receives a prize of £ 25,000 for his/her next LGBT short film. This is a three day event where all kind of fun is available for audience. In these three days different sessions use to take place like screening, question and answer etc. Each of them is performed with certain famous film celebs.
Cardiff- Iris Film Festival was mainly established in year 2007. This festival has an interesting part that other partner festivals use to select a film every year that is then selected in the Iris Prize Festival. Some of these partner festivals are Dublin, Toronto, Miami, Philadelphia, and London Etc. in last two years Dee Rees (USA) won award for her film Pariah in year 2007 and in 2008 Till KLeinert (Germany) won for CowBoy.
