Gay Pride festivals are celebrated all over the world as festivals that promote the gender diversity of the LGBT community. The festivals are known by different names in different parts of the world and cater to the LGBT community of that region. At Belfast in Ireland, it is known by the name Belfast Gay Pride. The schedule for the Belfast Gay Pride festival in the year 2009 was between July 25 and August 1. The festival was organized to make the people of LGBT community proud of their own gender identity. Gay pride assumes that gender diversity is a gift from God and the Belfast Gay pride festival celebrated this gift.
For the Belfast Gay Pride festival, the most important event was the Pride Parade. The history of the Pride Parade goes back to the protests for gay rights and gay pride. However, as a part of the Belfast Gay Pride festival the Pride Parade has evolved to a really colorful event that accommodated walkers, floats, dancers and amplified music. The parade was open to any person who wanted to participate in this colorful rally. Thus the parade was open to even people out of the LGBT community who wanted to extend their support to the cause of the event. The Parade is mostly followed by musical concerts, cultural activities etc. Over the one week time, funds are also gathered for donation etc. The whole area dawns a carnival like ambience during this week.
