Gay Clubs

The gay scene is renowned for its clubs, in fact if you don’t find a gay club in a major city then you’re in the wrong city. Gay clubs are often centred in the gay bar areas and will often open after the bars, however in small towns gay-bars will become the gay club later in the evening. The gay-club scene is often recognised as the innovator in dance and pop music, you will hear most new tracks in a gay club before you will anywhere else. Furthermore, many of the large dance producers perform mainly on the gay club scene; Hed Kandi, Freemasons, Ministry of Sounds are all regulars in gay clubs. Ibiza is renowned as the gay clubbing capital of the World, but Gran Canaria, New York, London and San Francisco also get recognised for their gay club scene.

Gay clubs can be expensive, much more than the hetereosexual counterparts. In some gay clubs there will be a dark room – especially in Europe, so you may want to check this out first if this is not your thing. Also drugs are prevalent on the gay club scene so you will need to be careful of anything you consumer. Gay clubs will often stay open until mid-morning – many capital city clubbing cultures for gay people are 24 hour at the weekends.
