Aspen has no exclusively gay venues, but J-Bar is popular with the gay crowd. In fact, it is popular with everybody. It harks back to its heritage as a former miners’ and cowboys’ bar, with its maple bar, pigskin covered bar stools and silver inlaid marble floors. There are a range of beers, cocktails and soft drinks as well as sandwiches and snacks on offer, and a friendly atmosphere towards everyone who comes in. It’s not the place to go for a wild night, but then, this is Aspen. If it’s acceptance and comfort you want after a long cold day on the slopes, J-Bar is the place to go.
