Established in 1984, the bookstore Vrolijk is one of the biggest and best-known gay/lesbian bookshops in Europe. Extended over 2 floors, the shop is located right in the centre of Amsterdam, behind the Queen's Palace on Dam Square. Vrolijk stocks thousands of books, art DVDs, postcards and magazines, calendars, gadgets and some porn. They mail a quarterly bulletin, listing new books (novels and non-fiction) and films. You also can order books that are not in stock (There is an order form on the website). There are mailing lists for the digital version of Vrolijk's book- and DVD bulletin and for the announcement of events in the shop. You can buy a 'Vrolijk t-shirt' with the slogan "I Read so I am Sexy" [™]. Sometimes even signing sessions take place in the shop. In short: They do and sell a lot.
