Sidewinders Ranch, formerly known as the Ranch, is a good old fashioned cowboy joint with a Brokeback Mountain twist. For almost 20 years the place has delighted locals and travellers with its mix of traditional cowboy with cheeky gay fun. Although originally a favourite hang out for the black-and-blue gay male community, Sidewinders is now frequented by an extremely mixed variety; male and female, gay and straight, trendy, cowboys, dressed up dressed down; it’s whatever you want it to be, really. There are ladies’ nights, bear nights, karaoke nights, underwear nights, 80s nights, free pool nights, and of course, country and western dancing nights to pay homage to the venue’s roots. It’s rootin’, tootin’, and suitably camp.
