Blog of the month:

Maybe you've noticed that padding on airline seats is getting thinner. Back in the days of the Lockheed Constellation and the DC-6, seats used to be less punishing - they were more like the cushy La-Z-Boys your dad used to lounge in. Go blogging.

Welcome to our June 2008 newsletter

Well there we have it, spring is over and the weather has been bloody lovely in the Northern Hemisphere *slight sarcasm*. Rumour has it those ‘down under’ had a better time – but for now, just bring on the summer.

If you are planning to travel over the next few months don’t forget to check into the destinations to ensure everything is ready and waiting for you as you expect. For those with plans to visit China and Tibet, I’m sure you’ve looked into it – but just do it again, to be sure!

With pride season on top of us - yes just a few short weeks until 5 July when many cities, London included, hold parades - it’s time to get yourselves ready!

We’ve been talking and we’re pretty split on gay celebrations this year. Lars and Sascha are heading to Christopher Street Day Festival in Cologne (just watch the costumes roll up), I’m doing Brighton and London Prides then hopping to LA; while Jo is going with the flow…

gaypedia now has a fully functioning chat room, meeting & event travel planner for any trips you plan. So become a member, go to your profile and check who knows what and who’s going where.

We have a growing library of imagery but we could do with some more – load your photos of places, faces and aces on the site. If you wanna hook up let us know – we’d love to have more friends!

Til next time – Ryan & the gaypedia team

Hot spot:

Fort Lauderdale is the destination everyone is going to be talking about. The trend began about ten years ago and now it’s got one hell of a gay culture. Every magazine and blog is hot on the heels of the Lauderdale lifestyle – once you’ve taken a peek, you’ll know why. There are over 100 gay owned businesses, including, hotels, inns, bars, night clubs, restaurants, shops, plus the second largest Metropolitan Community Congregation in the USA. Over 30 of these businesses cater specifically to the gay & lesbian market.

Just a short drive from Miami the sights are extraordinary. It maybe a little more expensive than most American cities but you can be sure there’s plenty to do.

Check out the bars and clubs, be a tourist and visit South Beach where all the rich and famous live. There are plenty of arts venues in downtown Fort Lauderdale at Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District.

The weather is usually exquisite so pack the suntan lotion. Go check it out.
